To support the healthy growth of your plants, it is crucial to test the soil’s pH, N, P, and K levels. Testing your soil periodically is essential throughout the growing season. It is particularly recommended to test the pH, N, P & K levels before spring planting and the pH, P & K when preparing autumn beds. If your plants show signs of poor growth, a soil test can be beneficial.
pH - Testing the pH is essential to maintain the correct acidity/alkalinity levels in the soil. This ensures optimal conditions for nutrient absorption.
N - Nitrogen, a vital nutrient, is necessary for robust growth, especially in grass and leafy plants. The right amount of nitrogen contributes to overall plant health.
P - Phosphorous is indispensable for strong root growth and root vegetables. It also plays a key role in the formation of healthy stems and buds.
K - Potassium is essential for the development of shrubs and flowers. Adequate potassium levels enhance flower fragrance and colour. In vegetables, it ensures a better quality crop.
How To Test: Simply follow the detailed instructions for the required test. These processes are best performed with a dry soil sample at room temperature (approximately 19°C).

The colour of my liquid is not shown on the colour chart, what have I done wrong?
There could be two reasons for this, the soil used is too cold. The test is best done with the soil at room temperature (approx 19°) or the test needs to be left a bit longer to develop. Leave it up to 24 hours and recheck the colour again. If neither of these solutions work, then redo the test and ensure that the measurements are accurate.
