  1. Garland/Worth Gardening experiences busiest Glee ever

Garland/Worth Gardening experiences busiest Glee ever

This year's Glee trade fair was a difficult one to predict, we expected a much lower than usual footfall for the show, but much to our delight, the show was probably the busiest show we can ever remember. This is testament to the support of the garden industry retailers that we were able to experience yet another busy event. There was major interest being shown in the company's products for the 2022 season as well as the future plans and strategies. Garland has already seen £5.4m in growth over the past 12 months and 2022 looks set to continue in a similar way. This year has been a very difficult year for all suppliers and we have so much to do to ensure we stay on top all the extra business. Garland/Worth Gardening are a proud UK manufacturer making over 65% of their products in their own factory in the West Midlands. The company will be investing heavily for 2022 with a brand new trade focused website due to launch before the end of 2021, as well as a new warehouse management system to ensure fast and efficient order picking and packing.

  2. Garland Products welcomes return of Glee with new product launches and progressive expansion plans

Garland Products welcomes return of Glee with new product launches and progressive expansion plans

The launch of over 25 new products accompanied by 54 other items not previously exhibited, and the chance to announce the company’s positive plans for the future are the key reasons for Garland Products return to Glee in 2021.

Exhibitions have been an important element of Garland’s marketing drive for many years and commenting on the return to Glee, the company’s sales director, Mark Dedman said “The opportunity to meet with our many loyal customers and also potential customers is not to be missed.  The fact that Glee did not take place last year means that we will be showing 80 items not previously exhibited.  It has been a highly successful year for Garland but not without its pressures due to shortages in basic raw materials and associated transport problems.  Despite the difficulties, we have achieved a massive 66 per cent growth in sales.  As a result, we are already increasing our staffing numbers again for next season and will be investing in brand new warehouse management software over the coming months as well as opening a new customer showroom.  Glee will give us the opportunity of discussing these progressive plans face-to-face with visitors to our stand.”

  5. Unprecedented demand continues, leading to service delays and new customer suspensions

Unprecedented growth is still continuing at Garland Products/Worth Gardening. The current situation of stronger than usual sales, coupled with major supply shortages is adding to the already difficult situation across the industry. Cardboard supplies have been incredibly tough to maintain as well as other simple raw materials, all coupled with longer shipping times around the globe and staff shortages due to self-isolations. With all of these factors at play, this season is already proving to be the biggest challenge the company has ever faced in its 55 year history. So many companies face challenges over the years, but never have so many been faced all at once. With all of the stock demands from our customers as well as the difficulties in the supply chains, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend all new customers for the foreseeable future. Commenting on the situation, sales director Mark Dedman said: “The relentless demand from the consumers is adding just unmanageable pressure on our entire operation. The Covid lockdowns have created over 3 million new gardeners and if they all want just one single seed tray each, then there is no way the industry will cope. We lost 25% of our work force in January, as they were in some form of self-isolation period as Covid continued to wreak havoc around the country, so service delays have been inevitable. Therefore we have taken the very difficult decision to stop any new customers as we have to focus our energy and stock availability to our long term customer base. Our stocks are good at the moment, but long lead times are meaning that customers are trying to grab more stock each order, this will result in stock shortages further down the road if the supplies cannot keep up with the demand. We will continue to monitor the situation and we hope to return to normal service levels as soon as possible. Many suppliers are facing the same issues and as supplies run out, the demand increases as customers look f
