Garland/Worth Gardening is still experiencing an unprecedented growth in sales for its extensive range of garden care products. Brexit has given many challenges, but the demand from European customers has meant an incredibly strong end to 2020. The demand from Europe has also come as the UK demand has come earlier than normal due to the supply issues from other supplier that rely heavily on far east based products. The company’s factory in Kingswinford has been running at maximum capacity to cope with demand, however the factory would normally be making stock ahead of the main season, rather than just fulfilling day to day orders.
Commenting on the situation being experienced by the company, managing director Miles Glendenning said: “The early demand from our entire customer base is giving us plenty of challenges. We are starting to see our supply chain struggle with our demands, especially as we are not the only industry seeing this kind of increased demand. Carton suppliers are warning of mass shortages to come following the November lockdown, as so many consumers moved all their Christmas shopping online. We will continue to work flat out to ensure our customers get the best service possible over the coming season despite all of the challenges we are facing behind the scenes".
The Garland Products Group specialises in the manufacture of plastic injection moulded products and is one of the fastest growing suppliers to the garden industry. The products available to both keen and hobby gardeners have been designed through the company’s own experience as keen gardeners.

It is record breaking time at Garland Products where Tony Robson scooped the ‘Sales Agent of the Year’ award for the third time, during a year when the company has already achieved an unprecedented £2 million sales growth.
Tony is responsible for the company’s sales of garden care and DIY products in the North West and achieved an impressive 23 per cent growth in sales over the year. This is the third time that Tony has clinched the award, having had previous successes in 2019 and 2015. The runners-up were Julie McLean who covers Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Oxford and surrounding areas. Third place went to Andy Looby who is responsible for sales in the Midlands. The awards are based on a system that rewards continual growth over a twelve-month period.
The awards were announced during the Garland Products’ annual sales meeting, which this year took place for the first time by video link.
Following the sales meeting, Garland/Worth Gardening’s sales director, Mark Dedman said:“Congratulations to all of this year’s winners. Their achievements have helped us to drive sales through to a new level. In early September, when we announced the launch of 54 new lines, including environmentally friendly and GYO products, we had sales growth of around £1 million. The fact that this increase has now surged to £2 million and is still growing at an exponential rate is testimony to our dedicated nationwide network of sales agents and the support received from our manufacturing and administrative teams.”

New product development has been the key to the success of Garland/Worth Gardening with many new product ideas being driven by feedback and input from customers. Already this year the company has achieved growth of around £1miillion, and the launch of 54 new products for the 2021 season will help to consolidate future growth for the company and its customers.
Included in the new products for next season are a car boot protection range and a barbecue grill cleaning tray range, but the emphasis is firmly set on environmentally friendly products and GYO. These include new Bio-Based trays and a Growing Tray made from plastic free food-based materials. These plastic free growing trays are made from 100 per cent bio-based materials and are compostable. There are two new Microgreen growing trays that have two-tier holes that allow for optimal watering and drainage. The Premium Cell inserts range has been extended with a 12-cell version and a new 12-cell Seed Starter Set. The long-life injection moulded inserts give years of use and carry a ten-year guarantee.
The new Car Boot Protection range comprises three sizes of car boot liners and a range of rigid boot trays. The trays are available in four sizes to fit the most common car boots, but at a much more affordable price than the car manufacturers’ load liners.
The new Barbecue Grill Soaker Tray range is suitable for all of the most common sizes of barbecue grills and is designed to take the hard work out of grill cleaning.
Further lines have been added to both the Twines & Wires range and the Garden Basics range. One interesting addition is a 5mx5cm Natural Jute Webbing Tree Tie that is made from 100 per cent natural and biodegradable jute. The material is strong, yet gentle and will naturally biodegrade as the tree requires less support. Other additions to the range are ratchet wire strainers and bio-based plant clips.

The opening of a new purpose-built warehouse by Garland /Worth Gardening has proved to be timely as the company is experiencing unprecedented growth in sales for its extensive range of garden care products. Already this season, the company has achieved an impressive increase in turnover of almost £1 million. The warehouse, close to the company’s factory in Kingswinford, provides over 4,000 extra pallet spaces and extends Garland’s storage capacity in the Midlands by 70 per cent.
Commenting on the buoyant situation being experienced by the company, sales director Mark Dedman said: “The early completion of our new warehouse facility will enable us to deal speedily and efficiently with the high level of orders experienced so far this season and for the foreseeable future. We have been amazed at the level of business throughout this season. A great pre-season has been followed by record sales figures month after month, with both June and July registering increases of over 150 per cent and smashing all previous records. Despite lockdown, we have remained positive and have been forward thinking by maintaining extensive stock levels in order to meet the demand when stockists re-opened for business. That demand has been even bigger than we expected but our new warehouse capacity will ensure that we have the necessary stocks to accommodate the busiest of seasons and at the same time provide more space for our own manufactured products.”
