Quick guide to our Growing Pot Ranges

We have two types of professional growing pots to choose from, below is a brief description of each range with all of it benefits. Once you have chosen your preferred pots, you will see the different sizes available in each category below. Please take a few moments just to read through the two different options below before proceeding to the full range of pots available to ensure you choose the pots that are right for you.

Recycled & Recyclable Plastic Pots, these pots are available in 7 sizes, ranging from 9cm to 23cm round. The pots are made from 100% recycled and recyclable post industrial and post consumer waste plastic, making use of plastic waste that would otherwise end up in landfill. The pots are all thermo formed and are strong and sturdy enough to be used for several growing seasons.
     

 

Bio-Based Growing Pots. Nature Grown in Nature! Available in 5 sizes, including 9cm to 13cm round and a 9cm Square. These pots are made from 100% natural plant based raw materials, therefore contributing to a healthy and sustainable living environment. These pots are highly suited to natural organic growing. They are manufactured using a plant based polymer that is 100% biodegradable and industrially compostable in accordance with EN 13432 standards. The Bio-Based Growing Pots have an extremely low carbon footprint, official LCA calculations by Eurochain show that they produce 30% lower CO2 emissions than a similar pot made from recycled polypropylene.

Biobased star ratings scale is as follows

* = Between 20% and 40% Biobased
** = Between 40% and 60% Biobased
*** = Between 60% and 80% Biobased
**** = Over 80% Biobased

Example of Compostability (EN 13432):

Certification ensures that the product can be industrially composted and that all components of the product are compostable, e.g. material, colours and glues.

Testing for certification according to EN 13432 encompasses:

• Biodegradability in controlled composting conditions (oxygen consumption and production of CO2): Proof must be made that at least 90 percent of the organic material is converted into CO2 within 6 months.
• Disintegration: After 3 months’ composting and subsequent sifting through a 2mm sieve, no more than 10 percent residue may remain, as compared to the original mass.
• Practical test of compostability in a semi-industrial (or industrial) composting facility: No negative influence on the composting process is permitted.
• Ecotoxicity test: Examination of the effect of resultant compost on plant growth (agronomic test). All tests, not merely individual sections, must be passed for the same material and the tests must be conducted and approved by the same testing laboratories.
